[Yang has to bite the inside of her cheek to stop herself from blurting out that she's glad Pyrrha isn't here now. It's an awful thing to say, even if she wouldn't mean it the way it sounds; it's just a half-hearted wish for Pyrrha to have some measure of peace. Let the rest of them deal with the fact that Ozpin might have been manipulating them as he saw fit this whole time.
Instead, she turns her gaze aside, at the question as much as at the mention of her mother. It's not like she hasn't thought these same things herself.]

[Not her family. Definitely not her tribe. Just herself. If that.
Not exactly the great judge of character they're looking for.]
I actually asked Ozpin that once, about Ruby anyway. On the day he arrived here. [She glances back over at Jaune.] I'm not dumb; I know Ruby's special in a way that's different from everybody else. [Her left hand shakes a little before she pulls her fingers into a tight fist.]
So I made him swear he hadn't let her into Beacon early just to use her. That she got accepted into Beacon because she was just that skilled. Because she deserved to be there like she'd worked so hard to be.
[Yang's voice constricts, her tone growing tight and brittle.]
But now...How am I supposed to believe any of that? [Slight wisps of steam have started trailing off her shoulders.] He lied to us in Haven. Where does it stop? [Quietly.] ...I don't want anybody using my sister like they used Pyrrha.
