BACKGROUND: RWBY Wiki link for Yang's history (CW: Dismemberment/PTSD)

PERSONALITY: (Major spoilers for RWBY V3 onwards)
Yang Xiao Long, like a true sunny little dragon, is a force to be reckoned with. She can be warm and gentle like the glow of a hearth, bright and cheering like sunshine, and yet dangerously aggressive and destructive in a fight like a wildfire. Vivacious and fun-loving, Yang exudes a lot of confidence, both in herself and especially in the people she cares about. She is generally fearless in the face of conflict, sometimes smiling or outright grinning at her opponent, or even opponents. A self-proclaimed thrill-seeker, she tries to find the fun in the unexpected, if not outright revel in it, intent on living every day as if it could be her last.

Yang generally has exceptional self-esteem and an incredibly positive body image. Even following the loss of her arm, she seems to have regained much of her confidence towards this aspect, choosing to customize the look of her prosthetic with black and gold paint so that it better matches her aesthetic, and wearing outfits that don't completely hide it from view. She's also fully aware of how her otherwise phenomenal looks might make others perceive her and she has few issues playing up those perceptions in order to appear like a non-threat or catch potential opponents by surprise. She's sometimes a shameless flirt as well, this habit sometimes cropping up as part of a pre-fight deception, but more often stems from her enjoyment in showering her loved ones with compliments and affection.

In keeping with her cheerful nature, Yang has a quirky sense of humor, playfully teasing her sister or making light sarcastic remarks about friends and strangers alike or even occasionally bantering with her opponents. Yang can be prone to making puns, usually finding them a lot funnier than her friends do. She also seems to happily go along with most activities if she doesn't outright instigate them, whether it's a simple card game with her teammates or a large-scale food fight against friends.

Beneath the sunny "party-girl" disposition though lies a surprisingly compassionate and almost motherly figure. This is reflected in many of her interactions with her younger sister Ruby, as she balances the parts of a supportive sister and a sort of pseudo-parent, but also extends to her friends too. Yang is frequently the first to give words of encouragement or reassuring physical gestures when someone needs it. While some of these tendencies unfortunately originate from a troubled childhood, there's no doubting that Yang cares for the people she loves with all her heart and soul and the problems she faced in her youth, have only made her more worldly and wise beyond her years and general demeanor.

However, Yang does have a temper and she can become frustrated by things getting too far out of hand or even just by mundane annoyances. Most notably, damaging her hair, even just one strand, will send her flying into a literal red-eyed rage of fury and fists. Thankfully, these tantrums tend to fizzle out quickly, with Yang often going right back to her usual cheery, if sarcastic self. She can be a sore loser and gets irritable sometimes when things don't work out the way she's hoped. Yang can also be stubborn, even butting heads with her father and other authority figures, when she feels she's being slighted or otherwise not acknowledged as an "adult" and she's fairly susceptible to insults, especially to the things she values. Of her friends, she's the least likely to regret words or actions that she felt were honest or justified and the most likely to hold a grudge, petty or otherwise. Her temper, combined with an overconfidence in her own strength and her fierce protectiveness towards her friends were all factors in the altercation that led to the loss of part of her right arm. Since that incident, Yang's been working to better control her temper, particularly in battle, looking for ways around problems instead of through them and fighting smarter instead of harder and has made significant progress towards both ends.

In general, Yang's morality veers most closely towards the Chaotic or Neutral Good. She has a penchant for mischief and seems to have a "rules are guidelines" approach. She won't go out of her way to break the rules but she will if she has good reason to or if the law doesn't line up with her own sense of fairness (or fun). While it's a habit she's working on, she can still act as an aggressor, often when dealing with villians in order to get what she wants or to get the jump on monsters in combat. While she doesn't necessarily fight "dirty", she seems to have few qualms with hitting below the belt, literally even, or with stacking odds in her favor, even in something as innocuous as a card game.

Despite her high self-esteem and positive body image, Yang is still hampered by certain doubts about herself and grapples with abandonment issues. She's expressed uncertainty in her life choices, stating she often just "goes with the flow" or otherwise picks the most convenient option rather than out of any personal motivation. Even with her current extremely high-stakes mission, she'd stated that she's in it to support her sister as opposed to her own desire to take part and Yang continues to struggle with her own direction and future, her place in the world. She's also expressed her frustration with being "left alone" having lost two mothers, one to abandonment and one to death, and growing up with a grieving single father. These abandonment issues can sometimes color her perception of events or other people's motivations in addition to sending her into a depressive spiral. In addition, Yang's shown clear symptoms of suffering from PTSD in the aftermath of the Fall of Beacon and losing part of her right arm, including nightmares, memory flashbacks, and physical tremors. Thankfully, recent events have helped her work through and manage some of the worst side effects.

POWERS/ABILITIES:
AURA - "Aura" is the manifestation of one's soul in Remnant, and a power which Huntsmen and Huntresses like Yang are adept at utilizing in combat. It passively protects the bearer from harm (ie. slashes, bullets, and blunt trauma) and also enables them to do incredible feats. However, Aura cannot be wielded while asleep or unconscious and continuous damage will cause a user's Aura to deplete, eventually leaving them vulnerable to normal damage. Stronger attacks can also cause a user's Aura to deplete at a faster rate or break entirely, signified by a yellow-gold crackle of energy in Yang's case.

SEMBLANCE - Most Aura users also have a Semblance, an ability or power that is often unique to the Huntsman or Huntress. In Yang's case, her Semblance is a form of Kinetic Absorption; whenever she takes damage, energy of those hits is added to her already formidable strength, allowing her to make her own attacks more powerful either in short bursts or in one explosive all-out attack. However, Yang's Semblance comes with a price. Her Aura will still deplete with any strike she takes, meaning that while she can become stronger, she also leaves herself more vulnerable to receiving injury or harm, and once she's used up the energy she's absorbed, she's back to square one, which can leave her weakened and/or exhausted. Her hair is a visible indicator of her Semblance in use as it glows or occasionally even appears to catch fire depending on the amount of power she's absorbed. Her eyes will often also switch to their red hue given her intense emotional state when she's using her Semblance at its greatest power.

SUPER STRENGTH AND STAMINA - This is arguably not really a power but just in case, Yang seems to have an impressive and higher than average physical prowess for a Huntress her age, capable of lifting obscene amounts of weight without much difficulty and without any apparent use of her Semblance. She's also been shown to be far more durable than most of her teammates, capable of taking not only harder hits but multiple otherwise devastating blows and still standing back up. Her robotic prosthetic also seems to avail her some degree of additional strength, although that may merely be due to the nature of its metallic parts and synthetic build (in that it is made of a harder material and won't tire the way a real muscle might).

For the sake of a full disclosure (and to cover all my bases), Yang has extensive training in fighting both monsters and human combatants and all the "ability" perks that come with that. She's extremely experienced in hand-to-hand combat, particularly her own fighting style that combines both close-range and distance tactics, and she can react quicker and move with greater agility and speed than the average person. She's also more than capable of keeping a calm and level head when in battle or other high intensity situations that an average teenaged civilian would likely be terrified in. ...Basically, she's got the standard Anime Teen Protag Powers which could come off as "weird" to a normal adult but are pretty par for the course for her line of work.

Here's the RWBY Wiki section for Yang's powers/abilities, just in case.

INVENTORY:
1) Ember Celica - Yang's customized, self-made weapon of choice, her Dual Ranged Shot Gauntlets, also known as Ember Celica. Each gauntlet generally has a limit of 24-ish shots before needing to be reloaded. Yang is currently only in possession of the left gauntlet after losing the right along with her arm in the Battle of Beacon.

2) A spare roll of ammunition for Ember Celica.

3) Photo of Team STRQ - An old, but still in good condition, photograph of Team STRQ, the members of which are Summer Rose, Taiyang Xiao Long, and Raven & Qrow Branwen.

4) Photo of Team RWBY - A photograph of Team RWBY taken at some point during their time at Beacon. It has the words "New Friends!!!" written in the corner in red ink along with a doodle of a heart.

Her prosthetic arm is usually attached to her but can be detached. It's also technically a weapon so I have no idea whether it counts as an "item" or part of her clothing/body? If it does count, that will be item #5 leaving her with only one free inventory slot instead of two for future canon updates.
