[Flying cuts down on travel time, but that isn't worth mentioning.]
Ah, well, you see...
[Her cheeks turn a tinge of red and she looks away. She balances the three boxes on one hand while awkwardly rubbing the back of her head with the other.]
I'm not so confident in my baking yet. The quality is kind of all over the place.
[She smiles at Yang and shoves the pies at her with both hands.]
So, you can try them all. At least one of them has to be just right.
[Wait, what, she just thought she was getting free pies, she did not sign up to be a taste-tester??? D:]
Uhhhhm...
[She takes the pies with only half an attempt at hiding her hesitation. Suddenly, she's not so sure about eating any of these...
But, well, Elphelt is a friend. She can at least try them out. Ideally when Elphelt can't watch her eat them.
She forces a smile.]
Well, thanks for thinking of me. I'm gonna be set for pie for awhile. [A slightly awkward pause as she stands there, holding 3 pies.] I'm gonna go...put these on the counter...
[Surely, Elphelt won't insist on her trying them out while she's here...would she?]
[In her excitement, Elphelt doesn't notice any hesitation. As Yang mentions what she is doing, Elphelt nods and takes a step forward, intent on following.]
If you like any of them, there's plenty more where they came from. I made so many because...well, I suppose I was cramming for a test. A taste-test.
[That's a bad joke. In reality, she made so many because she needed a distraction instead of moping all week.]
I don't have much experience, so I have to make up for it, you know.
Well, you know how the saying goes...practice makes perfect.
[A lot of practice. So much more practice.
In the kitchen, Yang places all the pies onto the counter, trying not to worry too much about the distinctly heavier *thud* one of the pies makes as she turns back to Elphelt with a small smile.]
Honestly I'm kind of impressed already. Pies aren't exactly easy. When did you even find the time to make all those pies?
no subject
Sure! That sounds great. I'm just hanging out at home right now. I'll leave the door open for you.
no subject
Yang! I'm here.
[She doesn't hesitate to step right in with three pies in hand.]
no subject
Needless to say, she is...surprised.]
Woah... [And then a smile, if a slightly lop-sided one, crosses her features.] You made great time.
[Another blink as she looks down at the pies Elphelt brought with her. That plural being key.]
Wow, three pies?
[She was sort of expecting like...one.]
