[A few squeaks from Allura's lap get her attention and she gives them a soft smile.]

[Yang had all but forgotten about them as well, the squeaking making her look down in surprise and then give a smile.]

Aww~ These guys came with you from home?

[She giggles quietly.]

Makes me wish I had my dad's dog here with me. He loves meeting new people.

Perhaps he might come later with someone you know from home. Or I've heard of people asking for animal companions to be brought here in exchange for full crystals.

[Yang blinks in surprise.

Glancing down a moment, she lightly picks up the crystal pendant hanging from around her neck, running a thumb across it curiously.]

How does that work?

I'm not to sure about the exact details, but I think you're supposed to go to the Arehtei and place your request while presenting your crystals?

Ohhhh, okay. Right. The Arehtei.

[She nods like she understands.]

There was something about them in the welcome pamphlet I got. They're like this place's...gods? Or something?

[The way she says it makes it sound as if she doesn't really believe in beings like that but there's still an undertone of curiosity.]

Something along those lines. They're very powerful beings, at the very least, and they do rely on the emotions of the people residing in this world, a bit like prayer.

Woah... [Yang looks pretty shocked.]

And they actually...communicate with the people here somehow?

They do. I've heard some of the others are more reserved and speak through telepathy, but I've met my own Arehtei in person and she's quite friendly.

[She has absolutely no frame of reference for this, beyond it all sounding incredible.]

Peromei. Her emotions are hope and despair. [Allura's smile grows fond and sends a faint shimmer into the air.] She's also quite adorable.

[Looks like the cheer is contagious. There's a hint of laughter in Yang's voice as she asks.]

What does she look like?

Let's see... I think the animal she was described as is called a unicorn? And she comes to about my waist at the head, maybe a little smaller.

She is indeed. Do you know your alignment yet? It took a while for my crystal to reveal mine, but I've heard it varies from person to person.

[She curiously fingers the crystal pendant around her neck, glancing down at it.]

Honestly? I wouldn't even know how to tell.

Usually your amulet is the best clue.

[She pulls out her own, a pocket watch-looking thing, until she opens the lid and it turns out there's a compass inside instead. And the compass rose is a creamy white crystal cut into the shape of a four-petaled flower.]

The crystal was clear for me when I first arrive, but over time it began to take on its color until I could finally make it out.

[Oh wow, that's a unique looking amulet.

Yang takes a moment to stare harder at her own crystal amulet, as if trying to see whether there's a hint of color in it or not. But it's completely clear so far as she can see.]

Guess I've still gotta wait a bit to find out.
